COURSE
OUTLINE
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course introduces the
basic theories and single manipulation skills of Chinese Medical
Acupressure. Students will study interactively, the TCM theories that
the Chinese Medical Acupressure practice is based on. Then, the most
commonly used hands-on techniques and their general application in the
TCM clinic will be covered in lab sessions. While students learn how
to perform the central Chinese Medical Acupressure technique, the
particular focus will be on each
technique application with additional attention to degree of pressure,
stimulus and expected bodily response. Students will also learn how to
achieve the strength and skill necessary to administer a Chinese
Medical Acupressure treatment for
common musculoskeletal,
digestive, gynecological, cardiovascular and respiratory conditions
effectively in the clinical
setting.
COURSE
OBJECTIVES
At
the completion of this course the student will be able to:

Understand the theory of
Chinese Medical Acupressure.
·
Understand the relationship between
Chinese Medical
Acupressure, tuina, herbal
medicine, acupuncture and qi gong.
·
Perform prescribed techniques of
Chinese Medical
Acupressure.
·
Describe the location and indication of the commonly used
acupoints in
Chinese Medical Acupressure.
·
Treat common
musculoskeletal,
digestive, gynecological, cardiovascular and respiratory conditions
with Chinese
Medical Acupressure.
COURSE STRUCTURE
AND CONTENT
Structure of the Course:
The
course is modular in structure. Student will be expected to show that
they have reached the minimum standard in each module.
Handouts provided by the Instructor
will cover all the content of the course, but students are encouraged
to research further on Chinese
Medical Acupressure theory in
order to improve their understanding of this part of traditional
Chinese medicine.

OUTLINE
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Chinese Medical Nutrition Therapy (Shi
Liao) basic theory will be introduced in the first part of this
course. The principles and commonly used formulas of the TCM dietetics
will be covered in the part two of this course, providing students
with an opportunity to learn clinical applications of the Chinese
medical nutrition therapy.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
At the completion of this course the student will be able to:

Differentiate and diagnose appropriate Chinese medical
nutrition related conditions.
·
Discuss appropriate ways to address diet & nutritional
issues presented by the clients in the clinical practice.
·
Applied critical thinking skills in terms of determining
the appropriate nutritional prescription secondary to the primary TCM
diagnosis.
·
Demonstrate an ability to apply effective and appropriate
nutritional strategy to relevant TCM-based clinical situations
